First online murder will happen by end of 2014?
Police forensic techniques need to "adapt and grow" to address the dangers posed by the so-called "Internet of Everything" a new era of technological interconnectedness in which everything from garage doors to hospital health systems will be linked and controlled through computer networks.
The concept is behind the likely development of smart homes, cars and even cities, but police warned that the failure to protect devices properly could see them open to being hacked by outsiders to make money or to attack opponents.
The Europol threat assessment published last week cited a report by US security firm IID that predicted the first murder via "hacked internet-connected device" by the end of 2014. There have been no proven cases of murder by tampering with devices but hackers have highlighted numerous flaws in computer security systems.
In a series of high-profile stunts, Barnaby Jack hacked into cash machines to make them spew money, and exploited a flaw in an insulin pump. He died last year just before he was about to demonstrate how pacemakers could be hacked.

The former US vice-president Dick Cheney who has a long history of heart problems revealed last year that the wireless function had been disabled on his implanted defibrillator because of concerns that outsiders could hack the network and provoke a heart attack.
The idea was used in US thriller series Homeland when Cheney's fictional counterpart was murdered by a similar method. "Well, I was aware of the danger ... that existed but I found it credible," he said in an interview last year. "Because I know from the experience we had and the necessity for adjusting my own device that it was an accurate portrayal of what was possible."
The Europol report also suggested the advent of new forms of extortion and blackmail through connected devices, including locking people out of their smart cars and homes before payment of a ransom. It said that new systems would increasingly rely on facial and speech recognition for security that were open to abuse without up-to-date security in place.
The opportunities for tampering with devices come amid predictions that tens of billions of devices will be connected to the internet within the next couple of decades, according to experts." The IoE [Internet of Everything] represents a whole new attack vector that we believe criminals will already be looking for ways to exploit," according to the Europol threat assessment.
"The IoE is inevitable. We must expect a rapidly growing number of devices to be rendered "smart" and thence to become interconnected. Unfortunately, we feel that it is equally inevitable that many of these devices will leave vulnerabilities via which access to networks can be gained by criminals."
It said that flaws in one system were likely to be part of many more resulting in large numbers of victims. The complexity of technologies would make it hard to identify the perpetrators, it said. Security breaches already identified include the hacking of webcams. A couple in Texas reported that a hacker was able to shout abuse at a two-year-old after exploiting a flaw in their baby monitor.
The US health authorities ordered hospitals to improve security after identifying problems with 300 medical devices and amid reports that malware (malicious software) had slowed down monitors used for high-risk pregnancies.
"There's already this huge quasi-underground market where you can buy and sell vulnerabilities that have been discovered," said Rod Rasmussen, the president of IID. He said that while the first reported murder was yet to happen, "death by internet" was already a reality from online extortion and blackmail that has led to suicide. He said if his firm's prediction of an online murder did not come to pass in 2014, it would likely happen within the next few years.
"Someone could unlock your [smart] home and get in to cause harm," said Craig Spiezle, of the Online Trust Alliance, a US-based privacy and security organisation. With new technology "there's always someone in the background to exploit it", he said.

ORANG PENDEK OR THE LITTLE MAN OF THE FOREST

In October 2004, scientists announced the discovery of the remains of what was called a hobbit-like species of human, given the scientific name of Homo Floresiensis. This news of the island of Flores, located near Indonesia, attracted a firestorm of speculation and controversy for its significance and authenticity, and gave cryptozoologists renewed vigour to continue searching for the mysterious ape-like creature known as the Orang Pendek.
This mystery primate, reported in the wilderness of Sumatra, is reported as being 80 to 150 cm tall, covered with varying shades of hair, although reddish-brown is the most commonly reported colour. It is said to be an herbivore, and to possess a large potbelly. Reportedly, it has a penchant for climbing trees. Reports of the beast have been logged for centuries, with physical evidence such as handprints and footprints.
Researchers, such as Deborah Martyr and Claude Petit have led expeditions into Sumatra in search of the Pendek. സ്വൈര്യമായി ജീവിക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശം മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഭരണഘടനാദത്തമായ മൌലീകാവകാശവും – മനുഷ്യാവകാശവുമാണ്. പൊതുജനാരോഗ്യത്തിനും പൊതുസമാധാനത്തിനും വിഘാതമുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന തരത്തില്‍ ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി വച്ച് ശല്യം ചെയ്യാന്‍ ഒരു സംഘടിതപ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും അവകാശമില്ല. ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി ശബ്ദശല്യം കര്‍ശനമായി തടയുന്നതിന് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ പാര്‍ലമെന്റ് The noise pollution (Regulation & Control ) Rules 2000 എന്നപേരില്‍ സമഗ്രമായ ഒരു നിയമം പാസ്സാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ഈ നിയമത്തെ ധിക്കരിച്ചു പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കും സഹായിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കും 5 വര്‍ഷം തടവും ഒരു ലക്ഷം രൂപ പിഴയും ഈടാക്കാന്‍ നിയമം അനുശാസിക്കുന്നു. പ്രസ്തുത നിയമം കര്‍ശനമായി നടപ്പിലാക്കണം എന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് ഞാന്‍ കേരളാ ഹൈക്കോടതിയില്‍ കേസ് ഫയല്‍ചെയ്തിരുന്നു അതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ നിയമം കര്‍ശനമായി നടപ്പിലാക്കാന്‍ ഗവര്‍മെന്റിന് ഉത്തരവു നല്‍കിക്കൊണ്ട് ഹൈക്കോടതി വിധി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.( C.M.P. No. 54074/2002,14 O. P. No 18197/2001 ) കോടതി വിധി കര്‍ശനമായി നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്നതിന് ഗവര്‍മെന്റ് ഹോം ഡിപ്പാര്‍ട്ടുമെന്റ് മുഖാന്തിരം No. u 6- 30380/2002, Dated 28-11-02 ) ഉത്തരവ് പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് . ഈ ഉത്തരവ് എല്ലാ ജില്ലാ മജിസ്റ്ററേറ്റ്, പോലീസ് കമ്മിഷണര്‍ക്കും, എല്ലാ എസ്. പി. മാര്‍ക്കും നല്‍കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഡി. വൈ .എസ്. പി റാങ്കില്‍ കുറഞ്ഞ ഒരു പോലീസ് ഓഫീസര്‍ക്കും ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ അനുവാദം നല്‍കാന്‍ അധികാരമില്ല എഴുദിവസം മുന്‍കൂട്ടി അപേക്ഷ നല്‍ക്കിയിരിക്കണം. അറുപതു രൂപ ട്രഷറിയില്‍ ചലാന്‍ അടച്ച രസീത് അപേക്ഷയോടൊപ്പം വെച്ചിരിക്കണം. ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി ഏത് ആവശ്യത്തിന് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു എന്നും സമയവും തിയതിയും കാണിച്ചിരിക്കണം സ്ഥിരമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിന് ജനറല്‍ പെര്‍മിറ്റ് കൊടുക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല. നേരം വെളുക്കുന്നതിന് മുന്‍മ്പും രാത്രി 10 മണി കഴിഞ്ഞും ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല.
ദേവാലയങ്ങള്‍, മതസ്ഥാപനങ്ങള്‍, കോടതികള്‍, ആശുപത്രികള്‍, വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങള്‍ ഇവയുടെ 100 മീറ്ററില്‍പ്പെട്ടസ്ഥലങ്ങള്‍ നിശബ്ദമേഖലയായതിനാല്‍ അവിടെ ഒരു തരത്തില്‍പ്പെട്ട ഉച്ചഭാഷണിയും ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല. ഗവര്‍മെന്റ് ഓഫീസുകളുടെ 100 മീറ്റ്ര്‍ ചുറ്റളവില്‍പ്പെട്ട ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തിലും ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല. ഓടുന്ന വാഹനങ്ങളില്‍ ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല. പരസ്യത്തിനായി വാഹനങ്ങളില്‍ ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി വച്ച് കെട്ടി ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല. തിരക്കേറിയ കവലകളിലും, റോഡിന്റെ സൈഡുകളിലും, ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല. ആംബ്ലിഫയറില്‍ നിന്നും 300 മീറ്ററില്‍ കൂടിയ അകലത്തില്‍ സ്പീകര്‍ വയ്ക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല. കോളാമ്പി ഉച്ചഭാഷിണികള്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ പാടില്ല. ജനവാസ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളില്‍ 55 ഡസിബലില്‍ (ഒരാള്‍ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ശബ്ദം) കൂടിയ ഉച്ചഭാഷിണി ഉപയോഗിക്കരുത്. ആറടിയില്‍ കവിഞ്ഞ ഉയരത്തില്‍ സ്പീക്കര്‍ വെച്ച് കെട്ടാന്‍ പാടില്ല, പരാതി കിട്ടിയാല്‍ നടപടിസ്വീകരിക്കാത്ത പോലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനും തുല്യ കുറ്റവാളിയായിരിക്കുമെന്നും നിയമത്തില്‍ പറയുന്നു. ചുരുക്കത്തില്‍ പൊതുജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഒരു തരത്തിലും ശബ്ദശല്യം ഉണ്ടാവാന്‍ പാടില്ല എന്നാണ് നിയമത്തിന്റെ ചുരുക്കം. ആരുടെയും പരാതി ഇല്ലാതെ തന്നെ നിയമവിരുദ്ധമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നവരുടെ പേരില്‍ നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കാന്‍ പോലീസിന് അധികാരം നല്‍കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
നിയമം നടപ്പിലാക്കാതെ വരുമ്പോള്‍ പോലീസില്‍ പരാതി നല്‍കുക, പരിഹാരമുണ്ടായില്ലെങ്കില്‍, മേലധികാരിക്കും ജില്ലാ കലക്ടര്‍ക്കും പരാതി നല്‍കുക. പരാതിയിന്‍ മേല്‍ നടപടി ഉണ്ടായില്ലെങ്കില്‍ , വിവരാവകാശനിയമപ്രകാരം പത്ത് രൂപയുടെ കോര്‍ട്ട്ഫീസ് സ്റ്റാമ്പൊട്ടിച്ച് കാരണം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് രേഖ സ്വീകരിച്ച് അടുത്ത നിയമനടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കാം.

നമ്മുടെ നാട്ടില്‍ അതായത് പരണിയം പ്റദേശത്ത ചില പള്ളികളുണ്ട് ഒന്ന് സി എസ് ഐ വിഭാഗത്തിലുള്ളതും മറ്റേത്കത്തോലിക്ക വിഭാഗത്തിലുള്ളതും.സി എസ് ഐ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ പെട്ട പളളിക്കാകട്ട ഓരോ മണിക്കൂറിലും വിശ്വാസികളെ ശല്യപ്പെടുത്താതെ ഉറക്കം വരില്ല ആളുകള്‍ക്ക് സമയം നോക്കാന്‍ വേറെ മാര്‍ഗ്ഗമൊന്നും ഇല്ല എന്ന് തെറ്റിദ്ധരിച്ചോ എന്തോ അവര്‍ സമയം ഇങ്ങനെ അറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടേഇരിക്കുംഒരുഘടികാരത്തിലൂടെ ഒരു മണിയാകുമ്പോള്‍ ഒരു തവണ രണ്ട് മണിയാകുമ്പോള്‍ രണ്ട് തവണ എന്നിങ്ങനെ.......ഒപ്പം ഒരുദൈവവചനവും ഉണ്ടാകുംഉദ്ദേശം എന്തായാലും ,പൊലീസ് ലോക്കപ്പില്‍ അര്‍ദ്ദരാത്രിയില്‍ പ്റതിയെ ഉറങ്ങാനനുവദിക്കാതെ ഇടയ്ക്കിടയ്ക്ക് ശല്യം ചെയ്യുന്ന പൊലീസുകാരന്‍ടെ അവസ്ഥയായാണ് ഇത് സാധാരണ ജനത്തിന് അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നത്. ദൈവവചനം കേള്‍ക്കുന്നതിനുപകരം അതിനേയും അത് മൈക്കിലൂടെ പറയുന്നവനേയുംമനസ്സില്‍ പ് രാകുകയാണ് ജനം ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
കത്തോലിക്കരാകട്ടെ വെളുപ്പിന് അഞ്ചുമണിക്കുതന്നെ കാതുപൊട്ടുന്ന ഒച്ചയില്‍ കോളാമ്പി ഉപയോഗിച്ചില്ലേല്‍ അവര്‍ക്ക് ഉറക്കം വരില്ല.എല്ലാ ദിവസവും പുലര്‍ച്ചെ 5 മണിക്കുള്ള ആരാധനയുടെ പേരിലാണ് ഈ കോലാഹലം.
